I have so been enjoying my shiny sink. I'll be honest, the rest of my home needs work right now, but my sink is lovely! I really am trying to get this blogged every day, I know many of you are liking the encouragement for yourselves. If you want to see what's cooking in my kitchen you can take a peek at my resurrected food blog at the link at the top of my left sidebar. Enjoy and I'll see you tomorrow!

Who knew?
Who knew it would be easier to keep a shiny sink every day then to find time to blog every day? :) Sorry for my absence, I will try not to keep you hanging that long again. I only got pictures of days 14 and 15. On day 16 I didn't have any dishes to speak of, so if you want to know what it looked like on that day, see day 15. :)
In other news, I know it cannot be too exciting to my blog friends to just come here and look at my sink day after day. I've shared a few stories of things surrounding my sink and have a few more to share, but what would you like to hear about? What kinds of things inspire you in your kitchen? We have over 200 posts to go, so I need to do something to keep my readers inspired. I would love to hear your ideas on what inspires you to keep your sink shiny or if you have tried the Flylady system, what you loved about what it did for your home. See you tomorrow for my day 17 post!

No time!
Sorry, I just am out of time today to try to get day 14's post up, so I'll post day 14 and 15's sink tomorrow!

Thirteen Days!
Thirteen days down, only 267 to go. :) I'm loving this! I had a comment yesterday about using your dishwasher as your "drying rack" if you are having to hand wash everything like I did yesterday and will again today. That was a great idea! I was good about washing after each meal, and by doing that it only took less than ten minutes each time! Why do we put things like this off when they only take 10 minutes? As Flylady says "You can do anything for 15 (or 10!) minutes!". If you want to see why I am doing this, go HERE. See you tomorrow!

Day Twelve!
Wow! Truthfully I never even thought I would make it this far, but here I am! Day TWELVE! The bigger accomplishment is that I took this picture at 9:30 pm! That means I did my dishes right after dinner, then had a couple things drain in the sink before I put them away to take my picture. Usually I haven't even started by 9:30, so I am pleased I made myself "just do it".
I had a couple of questions in the comments I thought I would address: First, if you have a hubby who is a late night eater how do you wake up to a shiny sink? Well, for me it's not hard as I don't go to bed before my hubby. And since I've been doing this, he knows it is important to me, so he even asked where to put a glass last night so I would not be committing "shiny sink fraud". :) We put it in the dishwasher. :) If I did go to bed before him I would be sure to point out how much I love waking up to a shiny sink and how it would be great if he could take care of any dishes me makes. Please. :)
Another reader asked about shining porcelain sinks which are certainly harder to keep shiny than those of us blessed with stainless steel. Here are a couple of links that might help those of you with porcelain:
How to Clean a Porcelain Sink and Tips for a Sparkling Sink
Now last night I used the last of my dishwasher soap and our roads are icy here, so I will not have any more until Friday. Now I can feel like I am helping those with no dishwasher to keep their sinks shiny as I do all hand washing today! I will work hard on doing them right away so that they have adequate time to drain so I don't have to dry them as well. :) See you on day thirteen!

Day Eleven!
Day eleven! Things are going good, however, we're not quite to making it a habit yet. I am making sure my sink is shiny before going to bed. I need to, however, be getting that done earlier in the evening. Better yet, starting early in the day.
What keeps you from getting your sink shiny? For me, it is leaving all the dishes from the day until about 10 pm. Of course by this time I am exhausted! The last thing I want to do is shine a sink! That is what I will be working on the next couple of weeks. Many times I must run two loads in a day. If I don't get the first load started until 10 pm, that makes things a little problematic in getting to bed at a decent hour!
My tips (for myself to follow) for keeping up your shiny sink...
1. Unload the dishwasher first thing in the morning so it is empty and ready for dirty dishes.
2. Load the dirty dishes as soon as you dirty them.
3. Be sure to clean up right after dinner, then you have the whole evening to relax and enjoy your family and do your before bed routine.
Now remember, if you are new to this, Flylady says to shine your sink does not mean you have to do all the dishes! If it is your first time, set them on the floor if you have to and just do it! You will be so glad you did.

Day Ten!
I have to say I am so glad I decided to do this. This blogging thing has been great! I'm sure that some days I would not have shined my sink without the encouragement of knowing everyone in blogland would be looking for my progress. I would not say it is a habit yet, but I am getting there. If you have never heard of Flylady, you should check out her website, I know you will find encouragement for your journey there. It is so nice to know that you are not lazy and that you are not alone! If you want to see how this all got started for me, check out THIS post. See you all tomorrow!
